If I had to share a story about someone who’s had the most beautiful and positive impact on my life, it would be about my best friend, my soul sister, who’s been with me for over 12 years now.
We met in school, just two ordinary girls trying to figure out life, unaware that we were about to create a bond that would become extraordinary. From sharing tiffins and giggles in classrooms to surviving heartbreaks, anxiety, career pressure, and life’s chaos, we grew up, side by side. What started as innocent friendship turned into a safe space I never knew I needed but now can’t imagine life without.
She has been the constant in my ever-changing world. Through every low, she held me up with quiet strength. During moments when I felt invisible, even to myself, she saw me. When the world felt too loud, too fast, too cruel, she became my calm, my softness, my reminder that I’m not alone.
She has this rare gift of knowing exactly what to say when I’m falling apart. Sometimes it’s a gentle word. Sometimes it’s a funny voice note. And sometimes it’s just her silence, sitting with me in my mess, offering her presence like a warm blanket on a cold day. That kind of friendship, it’s healing. It’s sacred.
She motivates me without pushing, and she reminds me to believe in myself when I forget how. She’s the reason I kept writing when I wanted to give up. She’s the one who reminded me that my dreams matter. And whenever I shine, I know it’s because she always lit a little candle in the darkness for me.
We’ve seen each other through awkward phases, growing pains, and emotional breakdowns. She has seen the rawest version of me, my fears, my doubts, my ugly cries, and still, she stayed. Never judging. Always accepting.
She’s not just my friend. She’s my emotional mirror, my late-night therapist, my emergency contact for joy and sorrow. She’s the voice that says, “You’re doing okay. I’m proud of you,” even when the rest of the world is silent. She believed in me when I didn’t. And that belief? It changed me.
Even now, when something beautiful happens, or when everything is falling apart, she’s still the first person I think of. Because somehow, no matter the distance or time, her presence feels like home.
So yes, if you ask me about someone who changed my life, it’s her. My best friend since school. My anchor and my wings. I don’t say it enough, but I wouldn’t be who I am without her. And for that, I’ll be forever grateful.
